1. What versions of Excel can I use?

The tool is an xls file that uses VBA macros. The tool can run on Excel 2003 and newer versions running macros.

Compatible Excel versions :

  • Windows
    • Excel 2003
    • Excel 2007
    • Excel 2010

  • Mac Os X
    • Excel 2011

2. I can’t open the macros

Excel 2003

When opening the file, click on Enable Macros to use the file properly.

If Macros are disabled on your computer, you have to turn them on.

  • Click on Options panel of the Tool menu.

  • Go on the Security panel and open the Macro Security window.

 

  • Select the Medium level and click on OK

  • Reopen the tool and Enable Macros when asking

 

Newer versions

When opening the file, click on Enable Content to use the file properly.


If Macros are disabled on your computer, you have to turn them on.

  • Click on Options panel of the File menu.

  • Go on the Trust Center panel and open the Trust Center Settings window.

  • Select Disable all macros with notification and click on OK.

 

  • Reopen the file. You can now click on Enable Content.

3. I’m working in the UK – what database should I use

The EFFC DFI recommended database has been developed to be the most accurate with deep foundations and ground improvement activities. We recommend using this database.However, if you have a specific question of a customer who wants results with a UK database, you can use the UK – Defra/Uni of Bath database.WARNING Results of different calculations are comparable only if the same database is used.
