Which Carbon Footprint Standards have we used?
Various standards and methods have been developed worldwide in order to evaluate the carbon footprints of organisations, products and projects.
The main distinction is between "corporate standards", mainly dedicated to assessing the carbon footprint of an organization or company, and "product standards" focused mainly on products and the process of their development, delivery and disposal.
Our approach looks at taking a project approach which has some similarity with product standards as we look at the lifecycle of a project from inception to its end of use.
Below is a list of the main standards identified in Europe in 2012 when the project began and were consulted in the preparation of the Foundation CO2 Calculator:-
Corporate standards- GHG Protocol Corporate standard
- ISO 14064
- ADEME Bilan Carbone
- ENCORD
- European Organisation Environmental Footprint
